The webinar titled Water Audit: A tool for water resource planning and conservation at municipal level was held on 18th October 2024 from 2-5 PM. The webinar delved into the introduction to water audit, the necessity of water audits in a municipal area and strategies for sound water resource planning & conservation.

The webinar on the ravaging forest fires in Uttarakhand: Causes, impact and mitigation strategies was organized on 27th September 2024 from 2-5 PM. It was attended by 44 participants representing Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board, educational institute, Non-profit organization, industry, etc. Looking at the increased instances of the forest fires in Uttarakhand, the webinar focused on the underlying causes of the wildfires, impacts on the ecosystem services and the biodiversity and delved into the mitigation strategies followed by the forest department, particularly by involving the resident community. This gave a holistic picture of the scenario of fire management practices in Uttarakhand.

The webinar on Management of Biomedical Waste for Public Health was organised on 28th August 2024 from 2-5 PM. The webinar was attended by 500+ participants including representatives from Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board (UKPCB), Urban Local Bodies, Medical colleges, Hospitals, Industries, NGOs, etc. The trainer of the webinar was an esteemed expert who has experience and expertise on the policy frameworks and has understanding of the challenges that are faced by health care professionals in managing biomedical waste.

The webinar titled EPR in Plastic Waste: An Under-Tapped Opportunity for Public-Private Partnership was held on 25th July, 2024 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Over 150 participants attended, including representatives from the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board (UKPCB), Urban Local Bodies, industries, academic institutions, NGOs and more. The session featured distinguished experts who shared their knowledge on current trends in plastic waste generation, as well as relevant rules and guidelines for Plastic Waste Management (PWM).

The conference was jointly organized by ICWMR and India Development Service (IDS), USA on March 1st, 2024 (10 am -5 pm) at TERI SAS, Vasant Kunj, Delhi. It served as an initiative to highlight the interlinkages between waste management and health, providing a platform for knowledge sharing and fostering solutions to improve policy frameworks, current practices, and mechanisms in developing a holistic approach to waste management for public health. Representatives from various stakeholder groups, including government bodies, healthcare practices, NGOs, civil society organizations, academia and other like-minded individuals, attended the conference as delegates. The deliberations of the conference stimulated discussions on waste management for good health, brought diverse stakeholders together and compiled critical interlinkages between solid waste and health to develop a policy document.
- Ms. Payden, Deputy Representative to India, WHO India, served as the keynote speaker at the conference.
The webinar on Unboxing the Potential of Battery Waste in India was organised on 10th January 2024 from 2-5 pm. The speakers of the webinar were esteemed experts with experience and expertise on the policy frameworks, challenges and initiatives on battery waste management. The webinar was attended by 47 participants including representatives from Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board (UKPCB), Urban Local Bodies, industries academic institutions, NGOs, etc. Dr Lakshmi Raghupathy,Ex- Director, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, a notable expert in the field of battery waste management briefed the participants about the policy frameworks involved in the management of battery waste in India. She shared the salient features of the Battery Waste Management 2022, roles of various stakeholders involved. She further explained the Extended Producers Responsibility and compliances’ requirements in her session.
The webinar was organized on December 12th, 2023, from 2-5 pm by Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board and ICWMR, TERI SAS. Topics covered included New Paradigms of Urban Water Management, Introduction to Metabolic approaches, Recent guidelines by Niti Aayog on wastewater recycling, along with case studies of Tadox Technology, Membrane-based systems and evaporators, and Daiki Axis.

The panel discussion on 'Peoples' Participation: A Powerful Tool in Tackling the Issues of Plastic Waste’ was organized by ICWMR, TERI SAS, in collaboration with IPCA, Dabur India Limited, and Save Mother Earth Mission on June 24th, 2023 at TERI School of Advanced Studies. The panel discussion successfully highlighted the importance of people-led movements in mitigating the present problem of plastic waste management. It witnessed participation from individuals representing various RWAs in and around Delhi, professionals working in this field, students and academicians. The panelists included Mr. Byas Anand, Head, Corporate Communications & CSR, Dabur India Ltd, Ms. Monmi Barua, Fellow, TERI and Mr. Shyam Tayal, Co-Founder, Save Mother Earth Mission. The session was moderated by Ms. Garima Kaushik, Head, ICWMR, TERI SAS.
The panel discussion on ‘Enablers and Constraints of Plastic Waste Management’ was organized by IPCA and IFAT India, with ICWMR, TERI SAS serving as the supporting partner.
The discussion formed a part of Swachh Bharat Yatra - by IFAT India and took place on May 26th, 2023, at Hotel Hyatt Centric, Chandigarh. The panel discussion aimed to comprehend the current state of plastic waste management and emphasized potential solutions for the future.
The panel discussion on "Policy Diagnosis of EPR for Plastic Waste Management" was organized by IPCA and IFAT India, with ICWMR, TERI SAS serving as the supporting partner.
The discussion formed a part of Swachh Bharat Yatra - by IFAT India and took place on May 12th, 2023, at The Park Hotel, Connaught Place, New Delhi. The panel discussion emphasized the critical analysis of the policy tool (EPR) for plastic waste management in India.
A five-day training programme was arranged for the delegates of Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO), Maldives, from December 19th to 23rd, 2022. A felicitation ceremony was held for the participants upon the successful completion of the course. His Excellency Mr. Ibrahim Shaheeb, High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Ms. Maryam Bassama, First Secretary of the High Commission of the Republic of Maldives to India, also attended the ceremony.
The IPCA Centre for Waste Management and Research, a collaborative venture between TERI School of Advanced Studies and IPCA, was inaugurated on December 20th, 2022. Dr. Prashant Gargava, Member Secretary of CPCB, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Various dignitaries from corporates, NGOs, academia, development organizations, media, TERI SAS, and IPCA attended the inaugural event. The Centre’s logo was also unveiled during the ceremony.
Dr. Gargava congratulated IPCA and TERI SAS for establishing ICWMR and emphasized that ICWMR is a crucial initiative for generating reliable data, fostering innovation & research in the field of solid waste management, and playing an instrumental role in providing solutions for environmental sustainability. He expressed his expectation that the Centre would play a vital role in achieving the objectives of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
